Our logo, designed by Oliver Putz, takes its inspiration from an order-three Venn diagram, a schematic representation used in logic theory to depict collections of sets and represent their relationships. The three sets the logo refers to are science, philosophy, and theology, all of which are methodologically independent, yet parts of the same interpretation of reality. From where the three sets overlap, new understanding can emerge, just as intended by the STARS program. Unlike in ordinary Venn diagrams, the circles representing the sets in our logo are open, thus symbolizing the open-endedness of the interpretive endeavor that is the quest for ultimate reality. |
